SMXMU’s 4-year full-time undergraduate programme enrolls students nationwide along with foreign students and students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. SMXMU only enrolls those who pass its own admissions process. Students must complete at least 140 credits from 5 modules:

a.3 credits from basic common course module, including The Outline of Modern Chinese History, College English, Situation & Policy, College PE and Computer Application Basics;

b.16 credits from general education course module, including College Chinese, Psychological Health and Interdisciplinary Basic Course;

c.30-36 credits from discipline-related general elective courses such as Calculus, Linear Algebra, Principles of Management, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Principles of Accounting;

d.41-47 credits from Specialised Courses consisting of 20-30 credits professional core courses and 14-27 credits from professional elective courses;

e.14 credits from practice-based course module consisting of Comprehensive Case, Innovation Practices, Entrepreneurship, Graduation Internship and Graduation Thesis.

SMXMU undergraduates are high quality and from diverse geographic locations. The School emphasises case teaching and application of international cases by purchasing case banks from HBS and Richard Ivey School of Business. Social practice and internships improve students’ adaptability to work environments after graduation.

The School conducted a reform of undergraduate education: instead of arranging courses inside classrooms, a required internship was added to the third semester of the program. Responding to the reform, SMXMU strengthened efforts in developing student internship bases. It has signed internship base agreements with enterprises and invited corporate representatives to the annual on-campus summer internship fair, which both enriches students’ experience and competence and enhances School corporate connections. To further improve internship outcomes, every 20 students are equipped with 1 teacher, who not only provide guidance for on-site learning, but also offere online mentoring and organise internship experiences sharing.
